The Republic of Rumi – Book review

Khurram Ali Shafique is a historian who is also a research consultant for the Iqbal Academy in Karachi. His book Iqbal: An Illustrated Biography won the Presidential Iqbal Award last year.

I’ve read most of that book, but I’ve just reviewed one of his other titles – The Republic of Rumi -over at Goodreads. Come and take a look.

You are SO right on both counts, Saleena. I have adored the Bio and read it with deep fascination by bus and train to and fro the Dr. Aafia Siddiqui trial. Surely it’s one of the best Bios from any place or time in the world.

The Republic of Rumi also is headed for classical appreciation sooner or later as it is evolving into a new genre indeed. You are reminding me to revisit the same soon.

So glad to know about your blog.

  2. Nice to meet you Mrs Shafique. 🙂 I second Connie’s comment that RR is likely to become known as a classic.
